Minnow Hole Update
Fished from 6:30am to 9:30ish. Didn't see any fish caught at all. Not for lack of trying from my fellow fisher folk.Counted around 20 of us out there today. Feels Like the water might be cooling a little bit more. I think that is the only thing holding up the bite right now. When the water temps get in the 64 degree range I think the bite will vastly improve. On a side note I did accidently hook a small carp today. He pulled a little drag and I thought I had my first salmon of the season. (Sigh..)

July 2013 Rock Fish Trip On The Happy Hooker
Went out this Saturday with my son and brother Lavar and Wade. Had a great Time. I limited on rock fish and caught a nice ling cod. Var' and Wade did their thing as well with nice rock fish and a ling. Just a little sad that we didn't see any Stripers or Halibut on the boat. Captain Jim says that the Halibut has been hit or miss this time of year but mostly miss, I think. Captain Jim Smith and deckhand Mike, did get us on lots of fish. I think there were 17 or 18 lings and quite a few limits of assorted rock fish brought aboard. The jackpot winning fish was a Ling Cod probably somewhere in the 20 lb range I'd wager.
The weather was overcast and cool not at all like Sacramento. The water wasn't choppy at all, and out of 30 or so fisher folks; only one case of the pukies. (Continued After Pictures)
Going to try for another trip in the end of August. A great way to beat the heat in the valley is to venture down into the bay area.
Will get out for Salmon in my own back yard; The Sacramento River this week. As I look out my window this morning and see the trees rustling in the breeze I am given hope that the water temperature with get down in the sixties soon. I think our Salmon fishing will do pretty good here, judging by the amount and quality of the fish caught in the ocean near San Francisco this season.
I have some new 50 lb braid Power Pro line on my Shimano Conquest, that I am itching to toss some Flying C's with.
Tomorrow for sure. Wish me luck!!
